Film Preview: London Australian Film Festival 2009, 8 – 14 May, Filmhouse, Edinburgh

7 May

Now in its 15th year. The London Australian Film Festival returns to Edinburgh’s Filmhouse from Friday 8 to Thursday 14 May after a successful 2008 tour.

Showcasing the latest Australian features, documentaries and shorts, the programme presents a selection of the most popular films from the London-based festival.

This year’s line-up looks something like this:

  • Cactus
  • Three Blind Mice
  • Lionel
  • Bitter and Twisted
  • Men’s Group
  • The Oasis
  • In My Father’s Country
  • Rats and Cats

I’ve seen the opening film, Cactus, and am happy to report it’s fair dinkum, a nice little thriller with some interesting twists. I’ll try to get a full review up before the end of the week and will be checking out other films in the season over the coming days.
