DVD Review: The Baader Meinhof Complex

27 Apr

Based on real events, The Baader Meinhof Complex focuses on the actions of the Red Army Faction, a West German terrorist group operating in the late 1960s.

Opposing the rise of fascism in their home country, a group of urban guerrillas, led by Ulrike Meinhof (Martina Gedeck) and Andreas Baader (Moritz Bleibtreu), take on the establishment as the head of the German police force, Horst Herold (Bruno Ganz) tries to bring them to justice.

Depicting a unique part of German history, Baader Meinhof Complex is gritty and stylish, well worth the near two-and-a-half-hour run time.
