As part of the Filmhouse’s Stanley Kubrick retrospective, next week sees a rare chance to watch an extended version of 1980’s The Shining, from Monday 30 March – Wednesday 1 April.
The European version of the film was trimmed by Kubrick a few weeks after its release to around 113 minutes, while the US cut remained at 146 minutes. The Filmhouse have secured a print of the latter version and will be showing it over three nights.
More information on the “lost” Shining scenes can be found over on IMDB.
See the Filmhouse website for more information.
Remember that Sunday 29 March also sees a rare print of 2001: A Space Odyssey receive an airing.
Good times to be a film fan in Edinburgh.
