Theatre Preview: Defender of the Faith, 6 – 28 February, Tron Theatre, Glasgow

13 Jan

The Tron Theatre’s first major production of 2009 is Stuart Carolan’s award-winning thriller Defender of the Faith. Described as an “electrifying exploration of a family tested by loyalty and love and destroyed by fear and violence”, the play runs from Friday 6 – Saturday 28 February.

Tensions are high in an Irish family committed to uncompromising republicanism and already haunted by the death of a son and an absent mother. When a visitor arrives from Belfast with the job of rooting out a police informer, paranoia grips the farm.

As the net closes in, familial bonds are pushed to a limit where not everyone will survive.

Already produced in Dublin and New York, Defender of the Faith now receives its UK premiere at The Tron.
