Film Review: Death Defying Acts, EIFF, 24 June, Edinburgh

25 Jun

As part of the Edinburgh Film Festival I was along watching the new Guy Pearce/Catherine Zeta Jones film, Death Defying Acts, yesterday.

By no means perfect, Edinburgh looks good and there’s a nice wee romance in there.

I summed it up in a review in the Edinburgh Evening News by saying:

“Glossing over factual inaccuracies, Death Defying Acts remains a sumptuous-looking trip to an Edinburgh now long gone. A competent love story will please the romantics in the audience while others may leave the cinema pondering the fact that the motivation behind the film is shrouded in as much mystery as one of Houdini’s acts.”
