Sex, intrigue, politics and love…Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group stage a new version of Les Liaisons Dangereuses from Thursday 5 – Saturday 7 June at Adam House Theatre on Chambers Street, Edinburgh.
Now set in 1936 France on the eve of war, The Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont – bored, aristocratic ex-lovers – toy indifferently with the hearts and minds of others as sport to ease their ennui; their flagrant disregard for love and morality ultimately setting the scene for their own undoing.
As they turn their energies towards destroying the hopes and loves of others, the Vicomte finds himself beset by genuine emotions for one of his victims, the Marquise is incensed by his betrayal and sets about plotting her heartless revenge.
Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group have been staging classic and cutting-edge theatre since 1954. They produce three or four shows each year, including participation in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the SCDA One Act Competition.
