Film Preview: Blueprint and Hugh Cornwell, 9 June, Cameo Cinema

12 May

The Cameo has an exclusive screening of the new film, Blueprint, from ex-Strangler Hugh Cornwell coming up on Monday 9 June. The one-off event will feature an in person Q&A with Cornwell himself.

Blueprint is a feature-length movie about Hugh’s forthcoming Hoover Dam album, recorded and filmed at east London’s famous all-analogue Toe Rag Studio with producer Liam Watson. Each song has been given a different ‘look’ in the edit. This footage is inter-cut with an in-depth interview by BBC broadcaster Robert Elms.

The following video is of Hugh Cornwell playing With or Without You from Blueprint.

Cornwell is one of the UK’s truly iconic song-writing talents and accomplished live performers. The original guitarist, singer and main songwriter in The Stranglers enjoyed massive UK and European success with ten hit albums and twenty-one top 40 singles in the 17 year period that he was in the band.

This screening, along with 11 others around the UK- precede the North American premiere at the NXNE film festival in Toronto in June, to be followed by a cinema run in North America in September, with screenings and film festival appearances lined up in other countries such as Japan and Australia.

The Hoover Dam album will be available to download totally free from hughcornwell.com but to incentivise the purchase of a physical copy on CD, the physical copy includes Blueprint on DVD.

Blueprint will be screened once only at the Cameo Cinema. There are no further plans ever to release the film theatrically – this is the only chance to see this on the big screen.

Visit the Cameo website for ticket and full screening information.
