Frank Sinatra

Ol’ Blue Eyes is back in an upcoming Filmhouse season of ten films celebrating the big-screen career of Frank Sinatra. Films will be screened between Sunday 4 May and Sunday 15 June.

Sinatra was a man with countless nicknames such as One-Take Charlie and The Voice but he was christened Francis Albert Sinatra. Today a film and music icon, Sinatra starred in a host of classic films such as The Manchurian Candidate, The Man With the Golden Arm and, of course, From Here to Eternity, a winner of eight Oscars after its release in 1953. Here’s a Sinatra-light scene:

Known for his spontaneous and energetic approach to acting, Sinatra was an instinctive actor, best at playing parts which mirrored his own, personality.

As well as being leader of the Rat Pack and having a star on Hollywood Boulevard, he won several awards for his talents in both the film and music industry, including numerous Academy Awards, eleven Grammys and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997, a year before he died, aged 83.

With the opportunity to see multiple award-winning films, the Frank Sinatra season appears to be a must see for Frank, and classic movie, fans alike.
