The Traverse is holding the third of it’s recent First Glimpse readings, London Street Sauna, on Wednesday 16 January.
These readings are a chance to see leading actors and directors preview the latest Traverse Theatre commissions. A mixture of new and established playwrights give us a unique first look at early drafts of their plays that will be appearing on stage in the coming years.
According to the website:
Saul and Gemma are doing just fine living on their own. With no parents on the scene Saul’s big sister looks after her teenage brother ok. But when Hailey comes into their lives she stirs up their emotions to test the nature of all our true loves.
London Street Sauna is Sam Holcroft’s first play for the Traverse Theatre. Sam was formerly in the Traverse’s Young Writers Group before going on to be nominated by the Traverse for the Royal Court’s The Fifty playwrights project last year. Since then, Sam’s play Ned & Sharon has been staged at the High Tide Festival. It will be directed by Lorne Campbell, the Traverse’s Associate Director.
It’s great to see a variation on the standard theatre-going experience with this reading. A quick look at the Radio Times shows that Watchdog and Coronation Street are on at the same time on Wednesday…a trip to the Trav with my fiver seems a much better option…
Venue: Traverse Theatre
Date/Time: Wednesday 16 January at 7:30pm
