Jon – That Sinking Feeling is a “wee gem” of a film that shows off the nascent talents of both director and his very young actors. Maybe it is the Glasgow humour/nostalgia that works for me but I have seen it 2 or 3 times and have always enjoyed it. Sorry to hear about the over dubbing as much of the charm of the film is the natural “patter” which I assume was heavily improvised. Gergory’s Girls is certainly a step up for Bill and then a leap up to Local Hero (best Scottish/British film!!) but it is worth watching this film to see where it all started.

I saw this at the weekend and didn’t like it but can see where you’re coming from, just thought it was a bit amateur that’s all.

I’d give it 2 stars.

Yeah, it was totally watchable. But it felt to me like an old 4-part Dr Who story from the 70s – you know, nothing *really* happens for 2 whole episodes, lots of long conversations, a hurried conclusion, a plot that should barely have stretched over 3 episodes, you know the thing. Admittedly, most of the viewers won’t remember when Who used to be like that. And yeah, it was very bleak – like it was trying too *hard* to be bleak and adult and harsh and “oooh look how far we can go and how meaningful we can be”.

But in the end Captain Jack buggered off, and it knocked the previous 2 series into a big gay cocked hat. So I suppose it was worth it in the end.

Like you were going to get a good review from me…;o)

Might need to shift an already-booked Fringe show but, hey, this is a one-off.

Is the ticket-booking going to require the same precision as for the BC ones? Probably…

This has been my favourite television series since it began, and I even rate it above Battlestar Galactica…okay, maybe level pegging.

It’s a travesty that The Shield hasn’t been given more awards and recognition.

The final series is a complete cracker too, and if you’ve been following from the start those closing moments are like a ton of bricks leaving you with an empty void. Fantastic writing.
